New Zealand Christmas Tree

THE POHUTUKAWA

We don't have snow at Christmas time down here under the world, instead we have glorious summer!

We like to dress up an evergreen (usually pinus radiata) with baubles and lights to shine prettily in our lounge and to protect the gifts of love beneath its branches.

But the Pohutukawa needs no tinsel.

She has her own

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
[ and Happy Solstice to those who know it :-) ]

Lovely pictures, very evocative and nostalgic. Reminds me of Little Barrier Island. The Pohutakawa is my favourite second only to the Kowhai!

A little belatedly (sorry, didn't keep up with the blogs before/over the holiday - too much traveling).. my suggestion would have been:

"A little bit of what you fancy doesn't do you any good at all..."

Happy New Year!

P.S. Nice pics by the way, shame there are none of the XBox LAN even; sounds good!

The Pohutakawa is indeed a fine tree this time of year. The one thing i really love about NZ is the spiralled unferling of the obligatory tree fern.
