Sir Edmund Hillary

I am standing Vigil for Sir Edmund Hillary as he lies in state as part of the RNZAF Catafalque Guard.

Therefore I will be practicing all weekend and unable to stay tuned to the blogging arena. Just in case you are looking out for me - my stints will be somewhere between 1600 and 2000 NZT on Monday and 0400 - 0800 NZT Tuesday.

And now I should like to propose a toast to that most amazing yet modest man, Sir Ed!

Here here! I;ll drink to that! I bet I;m the only one among you who can remember the event! The news cam in the same day as Her Majesty was coronated on June 2nd. Still remember it!

Twas a true Viking man so he was.

We heard a few clips from the funeral on the BBC news. Were you there at the funeral?
Lorenzo.

What a privilege jus.
I really liked seeing and listening to the Sherpas at the funeral. What has happened since Everest, in what he has managed to do in Nepal to help the Sherpas, is what has made him most respected.

Yes, he has done much more for Nepal than NZ!

Pussy! Nay, use not the lewd word 'pussy' young strumpet!

Foresooth, cats, be they young or old, are loved, cared for and carressed by these old, knarled hands.

Be ye sure, yon fat cat will come to no harm from Viking hands. Yon cat of thine be stately, grand and handsome.

A priviledge indeed. How proud I am of my daughter!

Maali - don't be so presumptuous - I can remember the day Hillary climbed Everest VERY well !!!

Everyone else's words sum up what I was going to say little sis in that you must find it such an honour to be able to stand guard for this fine man.

I wish you well and thanks for those planet photos! We are just a small grain of sand on a very very big beach
